09 November 18 - A day of safety testing and inspections

Inflatable & fun product hire in Merseyside!

A very busy day today at SJ's Leisure HQ as we had two sets of inspections on our hire equipment. First up, our electrical equipment including bouncy castle and inflatable fans, electronic games, photobooth equipment and any other electrical equipment we use had to undergo PAT testing. This ensures the efficiency and safety of our electrical equipment with the tester visually inspecting cables for wear and tear, splits in the cable etc and then using a specialist machine to confirm the plug and cables safety. We're happy to announce that all of our electrical equipment passed with no issues.

Next up, we welcomed Mr Paul Hanna from Maxibounce back. Paul is an RPII inflatable inspector who can offer both RPII testing and PIPA inspections. Some of our inflatables underwent the PIPA test and some the RPII. It can be quite confusing to most people, what's the difference between an RPII test and a PIPA test? The answer - absolutely nothing. Both inspections involve inspecting inflatables to the BS EN 14960:2013 inflatable safety standard. This standard covers only inflatables which are primarily used for bouncing and sliding so this includes inflatable products such as bouncy castles, inflatable slides, inflatable obstacle courses, bouncy castle and slide combo's etc. It does not include inflatables such as penalty shoot-outs, bungee runs etc.

Delighted to say that yet again, all of our inflatables passed with no issues or recommendations and we will be receiving the paperwork in the coming days / weeks. The reason we PIPA test and tag some inflatables is pretty simple really, although it's the same test as an RPII test, by PIPA tagging inflatables, we can upload the test certificate to an online database ran by PIPA. This is essentially what PIPA is, a recording and testing body. A brand if you like, similar to how Nike is a brand of sportswear. Items such as our magical inflatable snow globes were tested today and PIPA tagged as this allows schools, community groups etc to easily view our test certificates for such items and this can even be done on the day by simply scanning the QR code of the PIPA tag which will then load up the most recent test certificate of the product.
